The Authority Caravan: How to move forward through the noise?

“The caravan moves on while the dogs bark.”

That phrase, often repeated without reflection, says more about positioning than any engagement-focused eBook. It speaks to focus, to pressing forward while the roadside fills with barking: unsolicited opinions, empty criticism, cheap mimicry, and an army of “experts” in nothing trying to sound like authorities in everything.

Anyone trying to grow on LinkedIn knows this barking symphony all too well. With every post that goes viral, here comes the “this isn’t professional” patrol, the self-appointed guardians of everyone’s feed, critics with a tone of superiority, but no actual track record to back it up.

And worse? Some people actually get intimidated by it.They hold back. They shrink. They start thinking they’re “too much”, when in truth, they’re finally being seen.

While some complain about the algorithm, others are studying the market. While some mass-copy content, others are crafting a voice of their own. While some specialize in explaining why you won’t make it, others are quietly making it, with consistency and depth.

So what separates people who talk about authority from those who hold it?

  • Truth-based content: It’s not about making noise. It’s about making the right people stop and think. The right audience will recognize your truth.

  • Clear positioning: You can’t please everyone and still be remembered. If you try to speak to everyone, you get lost in the crowd.

  • Strategy: Authority without intention is just ego wrapped in random posts. Knowing where you’re going changes everything.

  • Consistency: One viral moment means nothing if you disappear the next day. The caravan belongs to those who keep walking, even when no one’s watching.

Want a real example?

I was once the one who created for everyone else but forgot to create for myself.I helped brands take off but assumed that was enough.I had positioning, but I hid my face.

Until I realized: authority can’t be outsourced. It’s the result of backing yourself. Of becoming your own best brand. Of building with a firm hand and a voice that’s fully yours.

Today, when I look back, I see that my greatest growth didn’t come from applause. It came from the moments when I kept going, despite the barking. When stepping back felt safer. But I moved forward. And I still do.

Because authority doesn’t defend itself. It doesn’t explain. It delivers, it positions itself, and it moves.

The caravan doesn’t wait for those who only complain.

So now I ask you: Will you keep barking…or finally start walking?
